Edward L. Kainen is the senior and managing partner of Kainen Law Group, PLLC, an AV-rated Las Vegas family law firm listed in the Bar Register of Preeminent Attorneys. He leads four family lawyers, including board-certified specialists and Fellows of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML). Kainen is an elected Fellow of the AAML and International Academy of Family Lawyers, a Nevada Board Certified Specialist in Family Law, and Board Certified in Family Trial Law by the National Board of Trial Advocacy. He holds Martindale-Hubbell’s highest rating and is admitted to state and federal courts in Nevada, Florida, and Kansas.
Kainen was the first chair of the Nevada Board of Certified Family Law Specialists, serving five years, and is a past president of the Nevada AAML chapter and current member of the AAML national Board of Governors. He chaired the State Bar of Nevada Family Law Section for two terms (2003–2005), served on its Executive Council (1997–2006), chaired the Family Court Bench Bar Committee (1999–2003), and sat on the Clark County Self Help Center Advisory Board (2000–2010). The Nevada Supreme Court appointed him to its Bench Bar Committee from 2005 to 2008 and again from 2011 to the present. Nationally, he served on the American Bar Association Family Law Section Council and co-chaired three committees.
Kainen has taught CLE programs in the United States and abroad on family law, litigation, law practice, ethics, criminal law, jury trials, and voir dire. He has written for the Nevada Family Law Report, Nevada Lawyer, and Clark County Bar Journal; authored the Manual for Family Court Law Clerks; and co-authored Nuts & Bolts of Family Law, coordinating and co-presenting its statewide CLE program for twenty years. He is a Nevada Certified Attorney Arbitrator, a Master in the Nevada American Inns of Court, and a former Pro Bono Attorney of the Year. Best Lawyers in America has listed him for more than ten consecutive years and named him Best Family Law Attorney in Las Vegas in 2013 and 2017. Since 2007, he has been recognized as a Nevada Super Lawyer and among leading lawyers in Nevada and the Mountain States. He also serves on nonprofit boards, including the Children and Family Law Center at Washburn School of Law.
